Amaranth Leaves Dal (Thotakura Pappu) Curry How to Prepare

     Hi, today one different and tasty Thotakura pappu curry..... Dal recipe which can also be eaten as a curry, hence it is called dal curry in Southern India... Thotakura pappu, a Andhra cuisine, is simple delicious dal recipe. Amaranth leaves tur dal is easy to make and tasty. Andhra style thotakura pappu recipe. Though we don't add much veggies in our daily diet, greens are our all time favorite at home... when me n my sis were school going, my mom makes sure that she cooks greens atleast twice a week since we hate eating any other veggies.. Not only that in your Andhra and Telangana must to prepare in hotels this leafy curry, and also prepare in marriages also..... (But in marriages prepare only dal curry (tomato dal) mmmmhhhhh its my favorite dal recipe... I eat this dal with hot steam rice with add some ghee and eat this mmmmmhhhh no word's to share guys... you must try..... I will share tomato dal also as soon)..... So friends try this thotakura pappu recipe..... Thotakura pappu taste best with avakai (mango pickle), ghee and vadiyallu....


Ingredients :-

  • Thotakura (amranth leaves) 2 bunches / 2 cups
  • Tur dal (kandi pappu) 1 cup
  • Tomatoes big size 2
  • Onions 2
  • Green chilies 8 (for more spicy add more green chilies)
  • Red chili powder 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Tamarind (small lemon size) 10 grams
  • Oil 6 tbsp
  • urad dal 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Hing powder 3 pinches
  • Curry leaves
Preparation :-

  1. First take thotakura bunches cut it small pieces and then wash it, then put it a side, now take cooker add tur dal wash it then add cleaned thotakura leaves... 
  2. And then add chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, chopped green chilies, tamarind, turmeric powder, red chili powder, water and close with lid cook it for 4 vissels...
  3. After 4 vissels, switch off the gas and then put it a side.... When pressure will gone then open the cooker lid, then add salt....
  4.  And then mash it like this.....
  5. Now take a wok add oil to heat, then add urad dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves fry it, then add dal also mix it well.....
  6. Cook it for 2 minutes... For the mixture totally ready.......
Now the dish is ready to serve...... Its so delicious and time also so save..... Its good to eat with hot steam rice with ghee its perfect..... And also eat this in roti and chapati also so good.. Carrot Bengal Gram with Coconut Fry How to Make

          Hi, today recipe Carrot Bengal Gram Dal with Coconut fry.... Its one of my favorite recipe, my amma prepare this regularly in my home... My amma weekly once she prepare for my lunch box.... My amma prepare so many variates with carrot, not only bengal gram, she makes with moong dal (yellow gram / pesarapappu), ginger garlic paste with tomato etc.., Its preparation is very simple and easy to make this fry, simple ingredients time also save.. Taste is really great. The thing to take care in this recipe is to not let the bengal gram overcook, it should hold shape and soft on bite. Garlic adds another layer of taste and is crucial along with fresh grated coconut. Sweet, spicy, flavorful dry saute that absorbs the tempering beautifully and goes well with rice and rasam. Lets see the process to make this fry step by step pics.......

Ingredients :-

  • Carrot 250 grams
  • Bengal gram 1/4 cup
  • Fresh coconut (grated or grind) 3 tbsp
  • Onions 3
  • Oil 6 tbsp
  • Urad dal 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander powder 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves
Preparation :-

  1. First take a cooker add bengal gram close with lid boil it for 2 vissels then switch off the gas and then put it a side......
  2. Now take a wok add oil to heat, when oil heated then add urad dal, cumin seeds, mustard seed to fry. Then add chopped onions curry leaves and then mix it well for 1 minute...
  3. When onions are soft and then add chopped carrot, salt, turmeric powder and then mix it well for, then put the lid and the boil it for 5 minutes in low flame....
  4.  After 5 minutes open the lid mix it well for...... When carrot is soft and fried lite brown color like this...
  5. Then add boiled bengal gram again mix it well for....... Then put the lid and fry it for again 3 to 4 minutes in low flame.........

  6. After 3 minutes open the lid, mix it well for.... When dal is fried lite then add grind fresh coconut 2 tbsp, garlic crush, red chili powder and then mix it well..
  7.  And fry it for 1 minute then add coriander powder also add again fry it for 1 minute....
  8. After 1 minute then switch off then gas and then move it to a serving bowl.......

Dry Small Fish With Mango Curry Andhra Style Recipe

         Hi friends today one different recipe Dry Small Fish Raw Mango curry recipe.... Its one of desi recipe.... In andhra we prepare so many variate recipes prepare with dry fish..... We prepare with dry fish, add in vankaya (brinjal), dosakaya (cucumber), bendakaya (ladyfinger), munakaya (drumstick) its perfect to this dry fish..... My amma prepare this recipes in my childhood...... In south side we have lots of sea food like fishes, prawns, crabs... In my family we eat regularly fish and prawn... I love sea food so I prepare almost fish and prawns.. My husband also like fish (off course he like so much mutton also ha ha ha)... Actually I post here one dry fish with brinjal and mango curry, now 2nd item is small dry fish... Here is step by step pics and method..... So lets see the process to make this curry......        

Ingredients :-

  • Dry small fish 200 grams
  • Raw Mangoes 2
  • Onions 3
  • Tomatoes 2
  • Tamarind big lemon size
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 8 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/6 tsp
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Curry leaves

  1. First take dry fish then remove head and tail clean it all, then move it to a bowl and then add water and then soak it for 15 minutes....... And then take another bowl add tamarind and water soak it for it will be soft.......

  2. Now take a wok add oil to heat, when oil is heated then add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves to fry.... Then add chopped onions mix it well....
  3. Then add turmeric powder and salt mix it well for..... Then fry it for oil will oozes out.....
  4. When onions are fried then add tomatoes mix it well for.......
  5. Cook it for 5 minutes tomatoes are soft...... (close with lid it will be soft)..
  6. After 5 minutes open the lid again mix it well, oil oozes out then add cleaned dry dish and then mix it well......
  7. Fry it for 2 to 3 minutes, then add tamarind water and then mix it well for....... (check salt and red chili powder)
  8. Mix it well, then add chopped raw mango pieces mix it again put the lid and then boil it for thick gravy........
  9. Boil it thick gravy oil will oozes out, then check again salt and then move it to a serving bowl.........

Curd Rice Recipe South Indian Style How to Prepare

     Hi friends, today one different and tasty rice "Curd rice"... Curd rice is an easy recipe and can be made in mins. As a kid I use to run and hide when my mom brings curd rice but it is one of the comforting food especially in summer. Not only in summer we use daily in your lunch and dinner time recipe... Actually this type rice will prepare in temples, first time I eat this rice in temple, that I asked my mom she told to me this very special in temple "loard shiva" (shiva ratri special item).. wow the taste amazing so I asked my mom you must prepare this rice for me..... :) So my mom prepared this rice recipe in my home for festival item... A bowl of curd and a pickle like tomato pickle or mango pickle it perfect to this rice item... would be enough to have a plateful of rice. Whenever go out side like small tour its perfect lunch pack, and also pack this combination is pulihora it great combination for long or small tours... I love to eat plain curd rice more than the seasoned one decorated with fruits and veggies. Mixing lots of fresh curd and salt in hot rice and having a plate is the divine lunch for me. I always make curd rice very simple without adding veggies, fruits and nuts. Curd has innumerable health benefits. People who don’t like curds have to consume at least a cup of buttermilk  to aid digestion. My MIL usually says buttermilk is much healthier than curd. Any occasion or any festival we prepare this item in your home.... So friends I will share step by step pics here.... Lets see the process to make the Curd Rice......

  1. First take a cooker add cleaned rice, salt to taste, then add 6 cups water and then close with lid cook it for 7 to 8 vissel... After then switch off the gas and then move it to a side for 10 to 15 minutes......
  2. After 15 minutes open the cooker lid and then mix it well for.... And then cool it for 20 minutes.......

      I have already shared my Tomato egg curry, onion egg fry recipes which is family favorite recipe .But To make a instant version of Tomato gravy i use the below one which is super duper fast and tasty. All u need is chopped onion and tomato and some spice powder , I have used only coriander and red chilly powder.
