This recipe is very tradtional desi recipe.... Cucumber dal/ dosakaya pappu is especially made in andhra region. We prepare different types of pappu (dal) like spinach dal, spinach/ Amaranth dal, etc..., we prepare very regullary in your home... Not only leafy vegges, we prepare Zucchini (Tori) dal, tomato dal, cabbage dal etc..., In Andhra any function, marriage, birth day function we must prepare this pappu (dal)... Today I share Cucumber dal... It is a dish which can be made easily with lesser ingredients. Follow the recipe and make it at your home.Cucumber is rich in vitamin K, B vitamins, copper, potassium, vitamin C, and manganese. And these can be helpful to maintain your diet. A good way to show affection to loved ones is serving them a comforting dal dish that has dosakaya in it. A classic Andhra pappu kura that is packed with nutrition with an irresistable flavor. One of my favorite high protein dish! Not only me, my husbands hot recipe...... Simple ingredients and simple to prepare this dal...... Lets see the ingredients and process to cook the dal........ 

Ingredients :-

  • Yellow cucumber small 1
  • Yellow Lentils 1 cup  (red gram / turdal)
  • Onions 2
  • Tomatoes 2
  • Tamarind little bit
  • Green chilies 10
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 8 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Red chilies 2
  • Garlic cloves 5
  • Urad dal (black dal) tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds 1/6 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Curry leafs
    Dosakaya Pappu Andhra Style Recipe How to Prepare
Preparation :-

  1. First take a cooker add red gram cleaned it, then add chopped cucumber pieces, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, chopped green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, tamarind, 1 glass water and close to lid and boil it for 4 to 5 vissles.... 
  2. After 4 vissels switch off the gas and then put it a side for 5 minutes, pressure will gone then open the lid... 
  3. Now add salt to taste and them mash it, then take a wok add oil to heat when oil is heated then add urad dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, garlic clove pieces, red chili pieces and curry leafs to fry...
  4. When mixture is fried then add cucumber dal to the mixture and then mix it well, and then cook it for 2 minutes then move it to a serving bowl and then serve it with hot rice and ghee......
Now the tasty and delicious cucumber dal recipe is ready to eat..... Its good to eat with steam rice, roti, chapati.... You can serve this dal with rice, you can serve ghee also its really tasty and so great taste.........
